Is it worth the time it takes to automate it versus just doing it?
Stumbled across this one from the internet and it’s a great little cheat sheet.
Think about how much time you are spending on a task and how often you do said task.
Determine how much time you think you can save by automating that task.
Make sure you take into consideration how long steps 1 + 2 take and this is also factored into how long you can spend to automate it.
Just Do It!
So often I’ve run across situations where people struggle with what to automate. They’ve done all the analysis and there may be several that make sense. The fact of the matter is, you can prioritize and weigh all of these out in an elaborate system, but just use your gut. Savings is savings. The more savings you can apply today the sooner you gain those savings back and that is why #4 is so important! So, get your Nike on and “Just do it!”
